COURSE MARKING CONTINUED

White lines:

In addition to out of bounds, players more commonly will see white lines used to define areas of ground under repair. The lines used to define ground under repair are in the ground under repair, and a ball is in ground under repair when it lies in or any part of it touches the ground under repair.

Green Tops on Stakes:

When stakes have a green top (whether yellow, red or white), an environmentally-sensitive area (ESA) is present, and has been marked as a water hazard or lateral water hazard. An ESA is an area declared by an appropriate authority, and entry into and/or play from the area is prohibited for environmental reasons. An ESA may be marked as a water hazard, lateral water hazard, ground under repair or out of bounds.
